Competition Categories

There is no strict theme so you can be creative as you please. Here are the categories for 2025. Entry is free.

Entry forms will be available for Leap Post Office and Ger’s Wild Atlantic Diner from October 6th 2025.

Entries will close on 19th October 2025.

  • Most frightening creation, open to all ages.

  • Best effort based on a current event, open to all ages.

  • Funniest creation, open to all ages.

  • Group effort from School

  • Most environmentally thoughtful & kind. Open to all ages.

  • Entrants from individuals (U18) who were assisted.

  • For creations that don’t fit into other categories. Open to all ages.

Prizes for 2025

Category prizes:

1st = €80, 2nd= €50, 3rd= €35.

Voting box will be available at the village tent to collect votes. Winner will be announced on Facebook/Instagram on November 01st.

Entry forms are available at Ger's Wild Atlantic Diner & Leap Post Office from October 06, 2025.

When entering a scarecrow, please select the category that represents your scarecrow and include your contact details.

A number is then provided to you to pin on to your scarecrow.  You must collect your number from the premises you registered in.

Closing date for entries

Entries in person at the wild Atlantic diner and Leap PO

Judging starts that week and finishes on Saturday 25th Oct. 

Winners will be announced on Monday 27th during street entertainment and winners will be presented with prizes.

Rules:

  • We don't have many rules but we do ask that the creations remain in the spirit of fun and are family friendly.

  • Scarecrows must not be placed beside or near the Zebra crossing. (To avoid confusing drivers)

  • No scarecrows to be placed in the Community Garden (This is to ensure that they are seen by passers by)

  • Scarecrows must be securely fastened to avoid accidents or damage due to bad weather.

Recommendation

We strongly encourage use of natural materials, straw, & any form of recycling.

We request that you send a photo of your creation when in place as this will help with identification and judging & sharing on social media.
